ION 2: Next-Generation Geospatial Video Recording
ION 2 is a rugged, compact digital video recorder designed to capture and manage mission-critical airborne video and metadata. The system supports simultaneous recording of up to four HD-SDI video channels along with synchronized audio and metadata streams.
Real-time H.264/H.265 recording and playback allow crews to review footage immediately while recording continues. A configurable record buffer captures video prior to the record command, ensuring critical moments are not missed. The system can also embed MISB/STANAG 4609-compliant metadata, enabling precise geospatial documentation of recorded video. ION 2 includes a built-in display for video monitoring and system control, along with front-panel access to SD and USB storage for rapid data capture and transfer. The system can automatically trigger recordings based on aircraft or mission events and supports a wide range of interfaces, including Ethernet, ARINC 429, serial connections, and CAN bus integration.
AIRSCAPE: AI-Enabled Augmented Reality Mission Management
AIRSCAPE is SHOTOVER’s next-generation augmented reality mission management software that combines gimbal and camera control, mapping, and mission management into a single platform. The system composites operational information - including street and parcel data, aircraft traffic, radar targets, vessel locations, and other custom datasets - directly over live EO/IR video in real time, allowing operators to maintain situational awareness while staying focused on the target.
Operators can quickly identify street addresses, measure areas, calculate acreage, estimate crowd sizes, track vehicle speeds during pursuits, and place geo-markers to highlight locations of interest. High-resolution aerial imagery, topographic charts, aviation charts, and other mapping layers are available directly within the interface to support mission planning and coordination. Additional capabilities include artificial intelligence-assisted target recognition, integration with TAK networks, waypoint transfer to flight management systems, and the ability to generate orthomosaics in real time for mapping and GIS applications.
One Platform, Multiple Mission Configurations
By combining recording and mission management software on a single hardware platform, the OSCAR architecture provides operators with a flexible system suited for a wide range of missions, from airborne law enforcement and search-and-rescue to defense and surveillance operations.
A single OSCAR computer can be configured to run ION 2 independently as a dedicated digital video recorder, or to run ION 2 and AIRSCAPE simultaneously, allowing operators to record mission video while using advanced augmented reality tools for situational awareness and mission coordination.
