To celebrate LA’s Go Skateboarding Day, the team at Brain Farm turned to SHOTOVER to capture stunning aerial and ground footage of the massive event. Headlined by top street skateboarder and X-Games gold medalist Paul Rodriguez, more than two thousand skateboarders turned out for a day of grinding, flips and air against the backdrop of the Sixth Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles.
To shoot the day’s action, Brain Farm and director Ty Evans utilized two versatile SHOTOVER F1 systems equipped with a RED Dragon and Canon 30-300mm lens, allowing them to gather crystal-clear 6K footage of the fast moving skaters. Mounted to a Eurocopter AS350, the lightweight F1 allowed Brain Farm more air time than possible with any comparable aerial system. The second system was mounted to the front of a conversion van for close to the ground tracking shots of the skateboarders. Cinematographers were Jared Slater in the air and Greg Wheeler on the ground.
Founded by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC), Go Skateboarding Day takes place every year on June 21st with multiple events held around the world.
